In 2025 Public Montessori in action International (PMAI) partnered with The Public Montessori Institute (PMI) bringing their programs under our 501(c)3. Founded in 2022 in Oakland CA, PMI offers an innovative teacher certification pathway designed to cultivate a sustainable pipeline of Montessori teachers in grades preK-6, prepared to serve public Montessori schools. With a particular focus on tailoring Montessori Teacher Residencies to meet the needs of the staff, students, and the communities they serves, PMI embeds anti-biased and anti-racist practices, reflection, and instructional practices, in addition to the typical curriculum and theory of Montessori training programs, into all aspects of our work with residents.

PMAI is thrilled to continue PMI’s Montessori Teacher Residency (MTR) program at  PMI-Oakland and expand their MTR offerings to public schools and districts across the nation who seek to improve their teacher pipeline. We work with existing public Montessori schools and districts who want to provide their staff access to teaching as a profession by offering the training needed to obtain Montessori credentials and meet the unique needs of their public school students.
