Writer, educator, and founder of Montessori Meisha, an online store selling diverse culturally appropriate Montessori teaching materials, Meisha Perrin is an accomplished Montessori teacher and program leader who has worked in Montessori environments around the world in various capacities, most commonly in the Lower Primary classrooms when not in leadership roles. She is passionate about education, racial equity, sustainability, and holistic health. She has spent many years volunteering in and pioneering for grassroots organic farming and eco-village communities around the world with a goal of increasing the access that communities have to quality organic local foods. Meisha graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Howard Taft University with a Master’s Degree in Education and a specialization in Montessori. She has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and International Relations, and worked for several years as a reporter and copy editor for the City of Miami, where she learned firsthand about the economic and educational disparity within the Black community that continues to widen the wealth gap in the US. As a Montessorian teaching around the world, she has firsthand knowledge of the importance of true diversity in Montessori and how it enriches communities, and her passion for incorporating more culturally appropriate and diverse learning materials in Montessori led to the creation of her online store and her role as the ED for BMEF.
Ayize Sabater (Ed.D) is a dynamic entrepreneur, educational researcher, author (Tell’n children our story) & thirty-year educator. He earned degrees from Morehouse, Wesley and Morgan State. Dr. Ayize has co-founded several organizations, including an independent Black school and a D.C. Montessori Public school. Ayize’s repeatedly been featured as a Keynote speaker, received numerous awards including a 2010 educational excellence award, presented by First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House and 2011 National Morehouse Man of the Year. Ayize launched an FM radio show (#UMustLearn), co-founded the Black Montessori Educational Fund (BMEF) and served as Executive Director of AMI/USA, 2020-2024.
