Dr. Juanita Imelda Johnson
Juanita has worked in many capacities, including as a teacher leader, teacher evaluator, and adjunct professor. She was awarded her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Kentucky University in 2024. Her scholarship was focused on what it takes to forge an Anti-biased, Antiracist, healing-centered Montessori practice in the 21st century. She and her dissertation partner utilized the components of Liberatory Consciousness and Reflective Praxis to explore the tenets of Montessori Philosophy and identify strategies to live more deeply into Montessori’s mandate for spiritual preparation of the teacher to optimize teaching practice, equity, and educational justice.
Her empathic disposition frames easy conversation and genuine interest in collective growth. Juanita’s firm belief in the South African term Ubuntu, guides her skill in identifying shared understanding and collective wisdom as catalysts for mindful transformation. As a compassionate teacher and facilitator, Juanita relates to children, parents, educators, and community advocates with radical love, determination, and faith in our collective responsibility to leave this world better for the generations that will inherit it in the future.
