Engaging conversations with Montessori practitioners

Season 3, Ep. 11:

Organizing Impactful Montessori Professional Development

Veronica Sias is the Montessori District Coordinator in Dallas for the Dallas Independent School District. In her first year in the position, she developed a district-wide professional development day to serve all the Montessori schools. Gathering for a day, and rotating through a variety of workshops and speakers, the staff of the schools learned together, connected and felt the power of their community. Join us as Veronica talks about her journey creating this experience for her district.

Veronica Sias was born in Mexico City and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her family resides in Forney, where they share their home with their two puppies, Vale and Oso. On sunny days, Veronica enjoys swimming and taking long walks. Food is a passion of hers, and she loves trying out new places.

Veronica is a firm believer in the Montessori philosophy, which emphasizes the complete development of a child's education and life skills. She has been in Montessori education for nine years and holds a Lower Elementary certification from AMS. Additionally, she has acquired her SEE (Sequential English Education) and MACAR (Montessori Applied to Children at Risk) certifications through Shelton. Veronica obtained her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and her master's degree in arts with an emphasis in Montessori Education from Dallas Baptist University.

For the past nine years, Veronica has been part of the flourishing Montessori community in Dallas ISD and is proud to call it her home. Her journey in education began as a Lower Elementary Dual-Language guide in the first Montessori School of Choice. She continued to develop her passion for learning and leading in the Early Learning Department, where she worked extensively with teachers growing professionally in the Montessori pedagogy. Currently, Veronica holds the position of district Montessori coordinator, overseeing the Montessori program across the district.

Veronica firmly believes that all students deserve champion teachers who provide them with an environment that enables them to develop their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive skills.
