Montessori Training Transformation: How new graduates emerge prepared

As times change, the preparation of Montessori educators must also. In this conversation, primary trainer, Uma Ramani shares ways in which she has shifted both the course and content to address the needs of the adult learner and in pursuit of reaching all learners.



Born and educated in India, Uma Ramani completed her AMI 3-6 training (1980) in India with Mr. A.M. Joosten and Mr. S.R. Swamy, who were both trained by Dr. Maria Montessori. Uma also holds the AMI 6-12 Diploma and has been an AMI trainer at the 3-6 level since 2010.

Uma has been living in the USA since 1997 and has worked at private and public schools as a guide, a coach and mentor. She has been a Director of Training (3-6) at the Montessori Institute of North Texas (MINT), Dallas, Texas, since 2014. She continues to work in India and recently in South Africa, preparing adults for the EsF Community Rooted Education (EsF CoRE) under the umbrella of AMI Educateur sans Frontieres.
