Season 1 Ep. 1: A Conversation with Koren Clark

Our first episode is a conversation with Koren Clark about Montessori education for liberation.

Koren Clark M.Ed uses Montessori education as a vehicle of self emancipation and works actively towards the development and design of tools and schools for our liberation. She is the proud mother of three children (Amasha, Khepera and Ousseynou) and has worked in the field of education for over 20 years. Clark holds a state credential, an administrative credential and Montessori certificate. She earned her degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley and her Masters of Montessori education from St. Catherine’s University. She has traveled internationally to over 15 different countries and has studied abroad in Germany, Zimbabwe and Egypt. She is an inspirational public speaker who is invited annually to schools and organizations around the nation such as American Montessori Society and the Montessori for Social justice organization to share her expertise with teachers and youth advocates. Clark is also the author of several articles and research reports including, “Montessori By Any Means necessary” recently cited in the book “Diverse Families, Desirable schools: Public Montessori in the Era of School Choice” published through Yale university. Clark sits on the national board of the magazine company Montessori Life and Urban Montessori in Oakland California. She currently works to develop micro schools within the Wildflower network and operates her own business Knowthyselfinc which offers Montessori materials and professional development in service of the liberated child.
